Fly to Ketchikan – spend the day the day visiting gold rush historical sites.
Currently there is no public transportation system on Prince of Wales, but a private shuttle company meets each ferry and offers transportation to the City of Craig. If you do not have your own transportation, arrangements should be made ahead of time.
Take the Interisland Ferry Authority KTN to Hollis, rent a car, send the day touring South Prince of Wales. Stay the night in Craig, hike Sunnahae Trail for a great view of the island and ocean.
Drive to Thorne Bay, hike the Salt Chuck Mine Trail. Stop in Thorne Bay to grab lunch and make sure to contact the Thorne Bay Ranger District to schedule a tour of El Capitan Cave Trail. Reservations must be made with the Thorne Bay Ranger District (907-828-3304) two days in advance. The maximum group size is 6 people, (no child packs or carriers). Drive to Whale Pass, visit the town and beautiful El Capitan passage. Drive to Coffman Cove and catch the Interisland Ferry Authority to Wrangell.
Stay at a local B&B;, visit Petroglyph beach and see historic Tlingit rock art or take a jet boat tour up the Stikine River and fly home on Alaska Airlines.
