PRESS RELEASE
DOUGLAS, AK

Southeast Alaska Trail System (SEAtrails) announced today that additional grant funds will soon be available for use in funding trails and trail-related projects in Southeast Alaska.

“These grants are all about improving and promoting a network of public trails that are easily identified through signage, maps, user guides and common services,” says Ron Crenshaw, SEAtrails board chair. “In 2004 we awarded more than $119,000 in grants to 10 communities. We anticipate this second round of grants to have an even greater impact on trails and trail use in Southeast.”

Details about how to apply for the upcoming grants will be available soon. To add your name to the mailing list to receive these details or for more information, contact Karen Smith, SEAtrails coordinator, at [email protected], 907.747.4237.

SEAtrails collaborates with organizations, groups and agencies to attract independent travelers, ecotourists and other visitors to Southeast Alaska. SEAtrails works with Alaska’s Marine Highway System and the Inter-Island Ferry Authority (IFA) to promote this dependable and enjoyable mode of travel between communities throughout the region.

The 19 SEAtrails member communities include Angoon, Coffman Cove, Craig, Gustavus, Haines, Hoonah, Hydaburg, Juneau, Kake, Ketchikan, Naukati, Pelican, Petersburg, Sitka, Skagway, Thorne Bay, Whale Pass, Wrangell and Yakutat.
