Summary:

This short forested trail provides access to Harlequin Lake which is fed by the Yakutat Glacier. Icebergs from the glacier float in the lake and can be found adjacent to the shoreline accessed by the trail. Once on the shore of Harlequin Lake, hikers can enjoy miles of shoreline hiking and explore a stunning landscape. This unique wilderness area is the convergence of the Brabazon Mountains, Yakutat Glacier, and glacier-fed lakes and rivers that provide outstanding scenery.

0.75 miles one-way (plus additional shoreline hiking if desired)

Elevation:

Less than 100 foot elevation gain

Difficulty:

Some low-lying areas are prone to flooding, depending on ground saturation and precipitation. This trail is in prime moose and bear habitat.

Starting Point:

From Yakutat, drive Forest Highway #10 (Dangerous River Road) east towards Harlequin Lake for 30 miles. At the end of the road, cross over the Dangerous River bridge to the trailhead.
