Starting Point:

The trailhead is seven miles south of downtown Haines on the Mud Bay Road or 10 miles from the ferry terminal and airport; it is located just inside the Chilkat State Park. The parking area is at the bottom of steep S curve. If hikers prefer a beach walk, they can continue driving to the beach and start there.
